Barn's Burnt Down - Journal Page
hello friends!
here are two pictures of one page from my moleskin, where I (poorly) have illustrated one of my favorite poems - a haiku in its original language - by Masahide. The text of the poem is:
Barn's burnt down -
Now
I can see the moon
While I was contentedly painting this scene in my journal, I looked up to see the sunset, which, as you can see below, made the sky look like it was on fire. It made me happy, this little coincidence. The poem is about the aftermath of a destructive fire, that has resulted in the loss of someone's barn. However, the fire has also allowed the farmer to see the moon. Here's to hoping that whatever fire happened last night (as evidenced by the sunset here in Vermont), helps us all to see the moon.
